This African American spiritual invokes the image that Jesus comes so close when we pray that he lays his head in our window to listen. This arrangement captures this with the use of canons that are not identical. it also employs the first three verses from Psalm 86 that ask God to bow down to hear us. This is carried out in a chant style while the spiritual melody continues and climaxes in an emotional cry of pleading.
