Choices For Viola Duet
Choices is an aleatoric work that is a musical representation of life. We do not get to choose anything about the beginning of our lives and we also have very little control at the end of our lives either. However, the interval in between is determined by the choices that we make. Here the performers are given control of many of the aspects of their performance. They will choose the tempo, articulations, bowings, and the order in which they will play the musical material. You may skip around and choose your own order, repeat each phrase as often as you like, and even go back after a phrase has been played and play it again. You may even make this into a multi-movement work by changing the parameters and by re-ordering the musical material to make contrasting movements.

This performance is by Talla Rouge Viola Duo, Aria Cheregosha, and Lauren Spaulding, violas was presented at The University of the Southern Caribbean Student Forum via Zoom.
